Slider not working

Working on a friends wp site with the hockeytime theme. FOr some reason, his slider options only show 10 posts for adding them to the slider. Any idea why? Is this because the theme is still the demo version?

They have approximately 30 posts that have been published, the majority of which have a featured image, but we can still not select them for the slider.

in no way is this fixed, but the number of posts available in the drop down is directly related to this setting:

Settings->reading->Blog pages show at most

When I change this value to 20, I now have 20 options in the dropdown for the slider post selection. This doesnt seem like a good way to implement the slider. Is this the correct behavior?

To show your post images in a slider you have to set them as a featured images. If any post doesn't contain a featured image, it won't be shown in a slider.
