Remove categories post date comments etc

Trying to get rid of the comments on posts and the rest from realestater. Why when I comment out the php code does it not disappear? I end up seeing /* and */

I also want to know where you can edit the footer area. I want the calendar out and the SMthemes thing gone.

I paid for the theme and I'm a little curious why it's more difficult to edit this than free themes out there. Please help Thanks

You can edit footer on page Appearance->Widgets of your dashboard. Just put any widget to the needed footer sidebar. Or you can completely disable widgets in the footer by turning off option "Show footer widgets?" on page Layout of theme settings in your dashboard.
