Recent posts widget?

I installed SportsPress but my recent posts widget didnt look anything like the demo. It doesnt show the large date nor the thumbnail. Are you using a plugin for the demo widget?

Please use widget "Posts with Images" instead "Recent Posts". You can find it on page Appearance->Widgets in your dashboard.
