Internet Explorer resets/refreshes with each menu button click

Hi, I just installed the absolutely stunning looking Alium theme.
I am having several issues with it however:
1. When visiting the page using Internet Explorer, the site completely reloads/flashes when clicking a menu button in stead of sliding.
2. The sliding effect is always "Fade" in Chrome.
3. How to get rid of the "Category/Home" bar?
