Esme's link works ok, but Home page's meta will disappear. So you only need to add this code

&nbsp;<span>Author: <?php the_author(); ?></span>

after this code

<?php 
				edit_post_link( $SMTheme->_( 'edit' ), '     |     <span class="edit-link">', '</span>' );
				?>
