Hard break after

I have added the <!--more--> tag to some of my posts, but In the list view it is still showing some extra words after the <!--more--> tag followed by ...

How do I make <!--more--> a hard break with no trailing text?

This still remains an issue for me.

On about half of the posts you will see a new line with a few words then a ...
In the post editor I have the "more break" before that new line.

Did you notice the issue?
