Grey semi-transparent bar on slider overlaps entire photo on mobile site

I'm not sure if anyone will help with this, because to date, not one administrator has contributed to this forum it would seem...however, I'll put it out there anyway.

It looks as though I'm stuck with using the mobile site on a tablet. No matter what I do within the style.css and library.php files, it still pulls up the mobile site which looks a bit like a dog's breakfast on a tablet. I asked how this can be fixed but no one has replied - shocking really. It's infuriating to say the least. Anyway, since I'm stuck with it, I want to make the most of it...how would one ensure that the grey semi-transparent bar which overlaps the bottom of the rotating slider panel of images (where the text resides), does not cover the entire image on a tablet or cellular device? I'm less concerned with the cell phone since it's so small, you can't really tell that it's an issue. On the tablet, it looks awful.

Where does the code reside that alters this?
