Filmatica - need to change background etc (limited options using Filmatica theme)

Hi,

I am trying to get to grips with Wordpress for the first time and today downloaded this theme from this website.

However I noticed that I am not able to change the "appearance" as much as I would like to (the normal links in Wordpress are not showing for me) and tabs like the background tab etc are simply not showing as an option in wordpress?

Does this theme have really limited choices on what you can edit? If so i feel that I have seriously wasted my money on this theme.
