Critical Error on theme ThingReal

Hello,

I'm dealing with a critical Wordpress error with the ThingReal theme when its activated. So, to debug I've uploaded a fresh copy of the ThingReal theme with zero edits to see if the error happens with zero customizations under a WP-Staging. Sure enough the theme does break and so the Debug log shows this is the culprit for the theme break:
