remove thumbnail

Hi

When i make a new post with an image in it a thumbnail appears above the post, i want to remove this thumbnail and i wonder how ?

I looked trough the theloop.php and found the following code.

<?php the_post_thumbnail(
'post-thumbnail',
array("class" => $SMTheme->get( 'layout','imgpos' ) . " featured_image")
); ?></a><?php } else { ?>

<?php the_post_thumbnail(
array(278, 173),
array("class" => $SMTheme->get( 'layout','imgpos' ) . " featured_image")
); ?>

If i remove that code the thumbnauil goes away, the problem now is when i use wp gif player and post a gif image. If someone presses the GIF they are redirected inside the post. If i dont remove the above code it works when the thumbnail is there but as i said i dont want the thumbnail to be shown.

How can i remove the trhumbnail without this happening?
Hi!

Please, find the following code in the file theloop.php :
else { ?>
<?php the_post_thumbnail(
array(278, 173),
array("class" => $SMTheme->get( 'layout','imgpos' ) . " featured_image")
); ?>
<?php }

and delete it. The content.php file is located inside the directory of the theme.
